Time Has Come To Revoke Article 370

Separatist leader Masarat Alam recently stirred the hornets’ nest by openly advocating for Pakistan. In a rally, he supported the furling of Pakistani flag in Kashmir, while his supporters chanted the pro-Pakistani slogans like “Pakistan Meri Jaan (Pakistan is my soul)”. As had been expected, many leaders, particularly from BJP and Shiv Sena, condemned Masarat and demanded strict action against him. It is but natural for citizens of a country and their loyal and honest leaders to oppose any one who tries to break their nation. But, the question arises – are people like Masarat Alam the only persons to be blamed for the frequent unrest that the common people of Jammu & Kashmir have been helplessly suffering for decades?

Accept it or not, it is in fact the widely controversial article 370 that is the root cause of the growing unrest in Jammu and Kashmir. Many people are still unaware of the fact that India has granted a special status to Jammu & Kashmir through Article 370, which allows the state to have its own official flag and constitution.

How can you believe that people living under a different flag and following a separate constitution will have the feeling of unity with people from the rest of the nation? They can’t enjoy the great sense of unity and peace that people in rest of India have. All states of India, excluding Jammu & Kashmir, operate cooperatively under one constitution and flag (Tiranga). But people of Jammu & Kashmir, particularly the illiterate and the poor, are in confusion as separatists who have been playing to the tune of Pakistan misleading them by propagating that they are part of Pakistan and not India.

Solution:
  1. Immediately revoke Article 370 to prevent separatists and Pakistani agents from propagating that Kashmir is not a part of India.
  2. Take strict legal action against people like  Masarat Alam as well as their political supporters who are trying to break India.
