Give Your Best But Give Up Results

Devote yourself totally and give your best in whatever you have to do, but keep it in mind that you are only the instrument and not the doer -- God, the Almighty, is the doer.

You can’t know the Almighty’s intentions or plans. It is only the three qualities (gunas) of nature that are always at play. It is the yearning for action that binds the person. It is the aloofness from action that dissolves the karmic seeds. Thus, you should constantly work only for work's sake and give up the desire for results, which may be good or bad.

Do your best. If you have knowledge of a better way to serve, make sure you use it. Don’t hold back just due to fear of hard efforts or criticism. Don’t work in a slapdash or lukewarm manner just because no one is watching or because you feel you will not get desired results from the work. Always give your best and strive to do such actions that can bring maximum good and minimum evil to all as a whole. Do Karma Yoga and stay away from sin.
